Bios and Statements of the Candidates

Davina E. Solomon
Position: Co-Chair

Bio:
I have been an educator on three continents, have developed curricula and taught a diverse group of students Math, Social Studies and Science in three educational systems, which has made me appreciate the opportunities for interaction with different people, provided me avenues for educational innovation and helped me engage in highly productive and collaborative team-work. I enjoy people, working towards goals and developing creative solutions. Mentoring adolescents, has helped create, I think, vast reserves of empathy and patience. I have been a member of NYLESA for two years. My educational background includes Masters degrees in Education, Sociology and Botany. I enjoy research, am a voracious reader, am multilingual, a blogger, poet, a bread baking enthusiast and an avid listener of Opera and Indian Raga.

One sentence explaining how you will contribute to NYLESA if you are voted to
be a Steering Committee member:
Having been a volunteer with NYLESA for over a year with the Membership and
Communication Teams and as Electoral Officer and having organized NYLESA connect,
provides me a keen insight into the Association's various working groups, an awareness of their strengths and vulnerabilities and I therefore seek to help NYLESA better fulfil its mandate towards its members, further its achievements and visibility within the UN, in addition to performing the core responsibilities of the co-chair position.
